Packwood, WA This brewery is in a little town just outside of the Mr. Rainer National Park area. I was pleasantly surprised to even find a brewery here. They do not currently brew on site, but this is the only place you can get their beer. Fun fact – they are currently using the former…
Category: Most Things Beer
I decided that I will be spending so much time and money at breweries that I need to start keeping track, offering feedback, and logging my experiences.
I also learned that I enjoy a tour of nearly anyplace that makes alcohol. I have already included two distilleries. We shall see what other gifts the road has to offer!
For each brewery, I am using a rating scale of one to five beers. If I ever figure out how to use an actual graphic, I will put that in, too. I hope this helps you on your travels.
Cheers!
Valentine Distilling
Ferndale, MI This was a happy accident. I was at a different pub and saw Mayor Pingree as a drink on the list. I got all excited and had to ask. Ends up, this is a line of alcohol named after my Great Uncle Hazen Stuart Pingree who was both Mayor of Detroit and Governor…
Farmington Brewing
Farmington, MI I sat outside on a sidewalk I must have put miles on as a youngster. I would ride my bike through downtown to get to the houses of friends, and later a boyfriend. I would see movies at the discount theater in the adjacent building. I marched down these streets in parades while…
Valentine Distilling
It started simple enough. My sister and I went out to explore the small town of my youth. We planned to imbibe while out, so we stopped at a couple bars. I was innocently reading the menu and saw my last name. WHAT? My name is not common at all so that was a surprise….
CaskCades
Puyallup, WA I was staying with friends in preparation for some airplane travel. I had a day to prep for my little trip, run errands and regroup from my last stint at camp. I got antsy later in the day and took off walking. I had seen signs with directions towards an antiques district, and…
Riverport Brewing
Clarkston, WA Beer and popcorn – does it get any better than that??? Hint: No, it does not. This place is not new to me and did not disappoint. New this run was a pepper beer (think Jalapeño) and a barleywine. As always, their beer is solid. I appreciate good beer and they have it….
Millwood Brewing
Millwood, Washington I have a long and deep history in the beer culture in and around Spokane, WA. Our relationship goes back 8 or 9 years when the home brew club was five people meeting at someone’s house. Now, there are breweries popping up all the time and most are by former club members. In…
Immersion Brewing
Bend, Oregon Nice little place with very new and shiny looking equipment. I enjoyed the visual appeal of all the copper kettles and grain bins. The bonus was a “brew it yourself” area in back where a nice young man worked with you, or you and your friends, to choose from their menu and brew…
Cascade Lakes Brewing
Bend, Oregon I was at one of their two sites, called The Lodge. It is fully staffed, decent menu, and has all the beers. Situated at a round-a-bout so there was no shortage of sights while sitting outside tackling my taster tray. No little snacks on the menu, which kind of sucked. The beers were…
Madras Brewing
Madras, Oregon It was a quiet weekday, but the beer was solid and the food good. I got a steak salad. The Mexican Stout was very interesting and seemed to give me something new each sip. The outlier was a blood orange blonde and it was also good. Nothing bad going on here. I give…
